1947 ARMSTRONG SIDDELEY LANCASTER

British Art Deco Elegance

Our wedding car is a very rare and special Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster 16HP saloon. Sold new in 1947 to a well to do lady in London, our Lancaster is a superb example of post war luxury motoring.

It is finished in two tone green which looks very smart and suits the elegant Art Deco lines of the Lancasters hand built body. The interior is finished in period correct two tone trim, with tan leather up front and a light cream Bedford cloth in the rear. The seats are very comfortable and are a highlight of Armstrong Siddeley’s smooth and refined approach to car design.

Indeed the company moto was “Silent as a Sphinx”, the Sphinx being the distinctive bonnet mascot of Armstrong Siddeley Cars.

Speaking of refinement the Lancaster is powered by a smooth 2.0ltr straight six engine. It also has a four speed pre-select gearbox which is the precursor to the modern day automatic. It allows for very a smooth and relaxed passenger experience.

The Lancaster can accommodate two passengers in the back and one passenger in the front. The car doesn’t have seat belts due to its age and as a result it is unable to carry children who require a booster seat.

The Chauffeur Driver will arrive dressed in a period suit that would have been appropriate to the style of the Lancaster in late 1940s/50s Britain, which adds something a little extra the the nostalgic driving experience.

Below are the options and extras you can add to your hire. These allow you to tailor the hire to suit your special day. If you need to discuss any of these options please do get in touch.

The Get Away Package - £45

With more and more couples choosing to hold their ceremony and reception at the same venue, it is often hard for them to get a break from all the attention. So why not add our Get Away Package to your booking. Our driver will take the bride and groom on a 30 minute drive after the ceremony, while their guests head off and prepare for the reception.

Additional Hours Hire - £55

If your ceremony will take longer than usual and you would like the driver to wait longer for photos, we can add this to your package. This adds an extra time cushion to the hire and lets the Bride and Groom enjoy the after ceremony and not have to keep an eye on the clock.

Bubbly Beverage - £12

Why not add a refreshing beverage to the occasion by adding a bottle of non alcoholic sparkling wine to the package. We would love to offer champagne but unfortunately it is actually illegal to serve alcohol without a license. So our alternative is to serve something non-alcoholic which will still look the part in the photos.

Extra Mileage Allowance

Sometimes the travel on the day will exceed our standard 20/30 mile allowance. If the total journey length is more than the allowance, we charge an additional £1.50 per mile to cover fuel costs. This also adds extra flexibility if there is a large group of bridesmaids that require multiple trips.
